3.23.14 Update

First of all, yesterday was an exciting milestone because Carter officially turned 2 1/2. He likes to tell people he is two and a half. He is such a special child. We couldn't feel more privileged and proud to be his parents. He has so much personality - dancing around the house to toddler music, using all sorts of words - to tell us how he feels, using voices when he plays with his trains or trucks and mimicking things we say like "burn-your-tongue-jalapenos." He is a sponge lately, always picking up on things he hears or experiences, and (sometimes) responding as we start to teach him right and wrong on things. Happy Half Birthday Carter! We love you so much!

As far as my/baby's health goes - I had a Dr. appointment this past Wednesday, March 19. My ultrasound showed the baby is still doing well and that hemorrhage is holding steady at about the same size - 58 cc. We actually thought this was pretty good news, as we were expecting it had grown. My doctor seemed cautiously optimistic that with at least a few weeks of bedrest it should start to heal itself and we should see improvement. This lifted our spirits to hear, but there is still plenty of apprehension that things won't go that way. Our next ultrasound is Wednesday, March 26 so we will keep you posted.

I go through such a range of emotions on a daily basis. Sometimes positivity that this will all work out, with some time. Sometimes overwhelmed at the prospect of experiencing a miscarriage or spending my entire pregnancy on bedrest. Sometimes it's wrestling with letting go of control of pretty much everything in my life. And sometimes is deep sadness that I can't play and interact with the child I already have in the way I am used to - and seeing the disappointment and misunderstanding in his eyes.

Through it all, these verses come to mind, so that is what I try to discipline my mind to think about:

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and discipline." 2 Timothy 1:7

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purposes." Romans 8:28

Your encouragement through texts, emails, calls, visits and acts of service are so appreciated. Thank you so much and please continue to pray that God will heal my body and protect our baby!
