Carter really started to get into the season this year. We had an advent calendar and he enjoyed counting down the days and moving the marker each day. We tried reading out of the book of Luke each night at dinner and he enjoyed that as well.
Unfortunately, a Toys R Us magazine also found it's way to our house this year, so he also spent countless hours pouring over the pictures of toys and telling us over and over what he wanted for Christmas.
It was finally the year where we had to draw the line in the sand and decide what we were going to do about Santa Claus. We decided not to promote Santa at our house because we really want to help our kids think about what the season should really be able - Jesus birth.. I know....some of you think we just sucked all the fun and magic out of Christmas.....And maybe we did.....However, we are doing our best to be the parents we feel we are called to be. And we just felt like Santa is such a distraction to Jesus. So, we will see how that plays out for us over the next few years, but for this year, it worked out just fine.
We did have a little elf visit us this year and he was pretty darn cute.
We continued with our family tradition - wearing new pajamas while looking at lights and drinking hot chocolate. The boys had a lot of fun and we enjoyed spending the evening with them.
We got to spend Christmas Day alone as a family of four. It was very relaxing - hanging out in pj's all day, helping Carter put together lego sets, napping and eating yummy food.
