Things Carter is up to at 6 months:
- He is sitting up on his own! Just in the last few days, we sit him up, by his toys, and he plays happily for about 10-15 minutes. We put a pillow around him just in case, but he is doing really well at correcting himself when he starts to fall over.
- He is sleeping really well at night. Usually from 8:00 pm to 5:30 or 6:00 am the next morning, without waking up. It is funny though, because by morning he is usually facing the complete opposite direction in his crib, he has found his pacifiers (which are stashed in the corner) and has distributed them around the crib. He isn't crawling yet, but you would think he his by the way he moves around in his crib!
- The great sleeping patterns could be a result of the new foods he is trying! We started giving Carter some baby food while we are eating dinner. More than anything, I think he loves being a "big boy" at the table with us. He sits in his high chair and chats happily. We have tried green beans, peas, carrots, squash and sweet potato. He makes all sorts of funny faces but has done pretty well at eating all of these options. My mom is also giving him some cereal (oatmeal) in the mornings.
- He loves to 'chat' with us - ma, ga, ba - are the usuals. He also loves blowing bubbles. And the newest thing is slurping. It is hilarious! He slurps everything - his spit, his pacifier, and his food.
- Another new thing is some funny form of flirting. When there are visitors, he likes to turn his back on them and then look back over his shoulder and smile. Where does he pick up this stuff?
- Just this week Carter's third tooth popped through! We knew he was working on a tooth but were very surprised to see that it came through on the bottom, not the top. It's right next to his two other teeth in the lower jaw.
